From Vision to a Thriving Family Business
Transmeri was founded in 1928 by the Danish businessman Gunnar Didrichsen. At the time, as the founder himself described it, “Finland was just a white area on the map.” However, having traveled the world and been educated in Europe, the visionary saw opportunities for success in the region and decided to launch the business.
Transmeri established its first long-term partnerships—which remain active to this day—with SC Johnson in 1931 and Chanel in 1933. Throughout its nearly 100-year history, Transmeri has created numerous brand success stories and maintained a strong presence in the Finnish market.
From One Generation to the Next
Gunnar Didrichsen served as the CEO of Transmeri for 60 years, from the company’s founding until 1988. Following Gunnar’s long and successful career, his son Jon Didrichsen followed in his father’s footsteps, serving as the company’s CEO from 1988 to 2009.
Gunnar Didrichsen’s life’s work is carried on today by all four of his children and their families. To the Didrichsens, Transmeri is more than just a company or a workplace—it is a second family, with every family member playing a role in shaping its future. Ann Marie Didrichsen, Gunnar’s youngest child and only daughter, served as CEO from 2009 to 2013. The third generation of the Didrichsen family is now being integrated into the business that unites them, preparing to carry on the legacy as responsible owners.
